This coin is the second release in the “Figures of Death” series. This collection of six coins is dedicated to representations of Death across world cultures. In this second issue: Lady Micte, short for Mictecacihuatl the Aztec goddess of Death and the eternal guardian of souls is the inspiration for the Mexican DÃa de los Muertos.
Wearing an elaborate feathered headdress and adorned with skull motifs, roses, and golden ornaments, she embodies both beauty and mortality. Her painted face recalls the calavera tradition, while she tenderly holds a human skull, symbolizing the eternal bond between life and death. The scene highlights every detail in high relief with selective coloring, enhancing the powerful aura of this mythical figure rooted in Aztec culture and still celebrated today across Mexico during the Day of the Dead.
On the reverse, a majestic altar skull dominates the composition, surrounded by flowers, candles, and skeletons celebrating with music and dance. At its center, a clock frames the denomination, reminding us of the inexorable passage of time and the celebration of life in the face of death.
The coin number is engraved on the edge. This striking 2-ounce silver coin features an antique finish combined with high-relief engraving and subtle applications of color. The result is a timeless tribute to one of the most beautiful personifications of Death. Delivered in a luxurious engraved wooden book box and accompanied by its Tarot card-shaped Certificate of Authenticity, this coin is released in an ultra-limited edition of just 250 pieces worldwide.
