The eighth issue of the annual “World’s Wildlife” Series is dedicated to the shark. The design of the premium bullion coin struck from 99.99% pure silver depicts the head of a shark with its mouth open. The inscriptions “THE SHARK” and “WORLD’S WILDLIFE” outline the design. The reverse features the coat of arms of the Democratic Republic of Congo as well as the weight, fineness, denomination and year of issue.
There are over 500 known species of shark worldwide, some of which differ considerably in size and appearance. The largest sharks can grow up to 14 meters in length and weigh over 12 tons. Many species are threatened by overfishing. The limited premium bullion silver coin is delivered in a protective coin capsule.
